The Oppo Reno 6 Pro is the latest Oppo phone Singapore retailers added to their inventory. While it may not look like a considerable jump ahead of the previous generation, it remains a great upper mid-range smartphone.
The Oppo Reno 6 Pro is available only in a 5G version. It uses the Mediatek Dimensity 1200 chipset along with an octa-core CPU. While in the past, Mediatek used to make modest mobile SoCs, the Dimensity 1200 delivers decent performance, making it slightly better than the Snapdragon 865 SoC.
For everyday use, the Mediatek chipset holds its own. It rarely shows any sign of slowness, being capable of dealing with demanding apps and graphically intensive games thanks to its Mali-G77 MC9 GPU. Being the latest Oppo phone in Singapore also means that it comes with the latest version of Android which is a good match for the CPU and GPU the device comes with.
For storage, Oppo offers the Reno 6 Pro in two versions. There is the lower spec one with 128 GB of internal storage and 8 GB of RAM and the top model with 256 GB and 12 GB respectively. An average user would rarely find himself in situations in which 8 GB of RAM may not be enough. The bottleneck will be the 128 GB internal storage.
The display of the Reno 6 Pro is also impressive. While it may not compete with the display used on the Samsung Galaxy S21, it still delivers crisp images and saturated colors with its 1080 by 2400 resolution and 500 nits.
The star of the show is the battery on the Reno 6 Pro. Once again, Oppo fitted a Reno model with their SuperVOOC 2.0 technology which charges the battery at 65 watts, which means you can get from 0% to 100% in just over 35 minutes.
For the cameras, not much was changed. Being the latest Oppo phone Singapore is getting, it would be reasonable to expect a camera upgrade but this is not the case. It has the same quad-camera setup on the back and a 32 MP selfie camera.

Should You Get The Previous Reno Phone?
The Oppo Reno 6 Pro is a great smartphone with a very attractive price tag for what it offers. However, it was released shortly after the Reno 5 Pro. Releasing a new iteration of a product line after just a few months since the previous one does not allow for much time for engineering. Innovation takes time to develop.
This can be seen with the Oppo Reno line of smartphones. The Reno 5 Pro was released just months after the Reno 4 Pro. The Reno 6 Pro was also released after a few months following the Reno 5 Pro. It is still the latest Oppo phone Singapore is getting but the average user will not notice much of a difference between the fifth and the sixth generation.
The most notable changes are the chipset as the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 is slightly better than the MediaTek Dimensity 1100 from the Reno 5 Pro and the Reno 6 Pro has a bigger battery.
At the end of the day, the Reno 5 Pro is just as good as the Reno 6 Pro. If you want the latest Oppo phone Singapore is getting, go for the 6 Pro but if you wish to save a few dollars, the 5 Pro is just as good.
