Taylor Swift’s songs are back on TikTok after a dispute between the both labels. After the dispute, Swift stopped licensing its content and songs to the viral video-sharing platform. However, it seems that both labels have agreed Swift’s songs are back in the app and users can use them now.

Why are Taylor Swift’s Songs Back on TikTok?

So you must be wondering why Taylor Swift’s songs are back on the app, or why Universal Music stopped licensing its songs to TikTok. In January, Universal Music pulled songs from their various artists, including Ariana Grande, Rihanna, and Taylor Swift.

Why are Taylor Swift's Songs Back on TikTok?

The citing of licensing dispute was put forward after many artists complained about inadequate royalties from the app. Although not all shift songs are listed on TikTok, however, some of them are available on the application. You Belong With Me and Cruel Summer are some of her songs that you can use on TikTok. Other artists from Universal Music haven’t yet relisted their songs on the platform.

On January 30, an open letter from Universal Music was published which cited the reason for not listening to their music on TikTok. According to Universal, the app was using music to create their business. Meanwhile, they kept on multiple artists’ music but didn’t provide a fair value to their music. Henceforth, they were violating the copyright laws.

Apart from that, many TikTok users were creating songs using AI. The AI-generated songs used the voices of artists without their consent. The users will record video in their voice but use AI models to change their sound. For instance, you recorded a video and now want it to sound like The Weekend or Drake. You will use AI models and change the sound. Then, you will publish it to make the video viral.

In 2018, Swift received the copyrights to her songs under an agreement with her label. According to multiple speculations, Swift might have reached an agreement with the video-sharing app while allowing TikTok users to use her songs in their videos.

After her songs became available on the app, her fans commonly known as “Swifties” became elated. Now, they’re trending the hashtag return of Taylor Swift’s songs back on TikTok. If you love Taylor Swift and her music, you can use her songs in your TikTok posts directly.
